Daniel K. Ohl is an Attorney at Silver & Wright LLP. Mr. Ohl joined the firm with 34 years of a wide range of experience in municipal law, land-use and planning, code enforcement, administrative process, criminal and civil litigation, appeals and writs, Pitchess motion defense, and ordinance and resolution drafting and implementation.
Mr. Ohl served as the deputy city attorney for the City of Newport Beach for 12 years where he practiced municipal litigation and handled cases in state and federal courts involving police and tort issues, government code claims matters, Section 1983 Defense, Pitchess Motion Defense, administrative law and writ issues and code enforcement. In this role, he provided advisory counsel to police, fire, marine services, parks, beaches, building and code enforcement, public works, and finance. While there, he also drafted appellate briefs, argued several cases before the courts of appeal and assisted on briefing on a governmental immunity issue decided by the supreme court. He drafted ordinances, resolutions, memorandums, negotiated contracts and cooperative agreements, reviewed grants, and attended and advised during city council meetings, planning commission, and civil service commission. He was also the special counsel to Airborne Law Enforcement (ABLE), the harbor commission, and the building access appeals board.
Mr. Ohl also served as the deputy city attorney for the City of Huntington Beach for 10 years where he provided transactional and advisory counsel in a wide variety of municipal law areas and advised staff regarding issues involving economic/business development, film permits, fire department, community development, parks, beaches and marine services, building and code enforcement, public works, police services public records and Pitchess motion defense. In this role, he drafted ordinances, resolutions, memorandums, negotiated contracts and cooperative agreements, reviewed grants, served as their special counsel to the central net operations authority, and served as the city prosecutor.
