Silver & Wright Expertise Showcased at CACEO Annual Seminar

Dec 9, 2019

Silver & Wright LLP, a Platinum Sponsor of the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO), brought their expertise in code enforcement to CACEO’s 2019 Annual Seminar this October in San Diego. Founding Partners Matt Silver and Curtis Wright delivered six sessions on topics including nuisance abatement, the Fourth Amendment, and current legislation.

“Silver & Wright is dedicated to the code enforcement profession,” said Founding Partner Matt Silver, who serves as second vice-president on CACEO’s Executive Committee. “By sponsoring and volunteering with the biggest code enforcement organization in the country, we help code enforcement officers have the information, resources, and tools they need to serve their communities.”

Curtis’ session, “Illegal Soliciting on Private/Public Property, Illegal Camping, and Other Transient Issues,” explored timely issues for cities addressing the health and safety challenges stemming from a rise in homelessness. He covered new and updated laws relating to transient activities, soliciting, and illegal camping, and touched on process considerations, such as managing recurring issues.

Matt and Curtis also shared lessons learned and best practices on “Abatement of Buildings Used for Drugs, Gangs, and/or Prostitution,” “Inspection Warrants and Abatement Warrants,” “Fourth Amendment: Rights of Entry, Inspections, and Abatement,” and an “Annual Code Enforcement Legal Update.”

CACEO’s mission is to promote and advance the profession of code enforcement while serving and supporting its members by offering comprehensive education and certification, providing legislative advocacy on issues of importance to the code enforcement profession, and facilitating a network for an exchange of information and technology. The Community Outreach Committee is the community volunteer arm of the Orange County Bar Association. The Committee’s goal is to assist the local community in various volunteer efforts by providing community service opportunities to the OCBA and its members. In some ways, the Committee members are the face of the OCBA as perceived by residents in Orange County. It is our hope that the Committee’s volunteer work will help to create a positive image of the OCBA and the legal profession among those in the community.
